Regional Workshop on Research and Opportunities

IIT Bhilai

A one day workshop, in association with Indian Women and Mathematics (IWM) is being organised at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai on February 21, 2021 in a blended mode. All the speakers will participate online. There will be a limited audience physically present at IIT Bhilai with the necessary Covid-19 precautions being undertaken. A much larger audience will be able to participate through online modes. This workshop is one of a series of workshops organised in different parts of the country to motivate and encourage more women mathematicians to pursue higher education in mathematics.

All post graduate students, PhD scholars, research fellows and faculty members of various colleges/universities primarily interested in various areas of mathematics are invited to participate in this workshop. The programme will however, have a special focus on women participants. Some well-known mathematicians from different parts of the country will deliver lectures on a wide range of topics in mathematics at this event. Furthermore, there will be an interactive session where renowned mathematicians and participants will be able to share their views and experiences. Young researchers will be able to interact with senior mathematicians.

The aim of the workshop is to encourage the women mathematicians from the central and eastern parts of India to do quality research work in the different areas of mathematics. The workshop is funded by National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India.



Who are eligible to apply: Post graduate students, PhD scholars, Research Fellows and College/University faculty members primarily interested in mathematics. Preferences will be given to participants from the central and eastern parts of India (mainly Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and nearby regions of Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra).

Participants will be selected on the basis of information provided in the registration form. Accommodation cannot be provided to any offline participants.
